Description: Taglines is a card game that my best friend and I invented sort of organically. As huge movie buffs, we would often quiz each other on movie taglines to see if the other could guess the film in question. If we needed help, we would offer clues like genre, release year, or if we were really desperate, the lead actor. Eventually, it occurred to me that if we enjoyed playing this game so much, others might enjoy it too.
I put together a list of 250 movies with notable taglines and set to work on designing a box that would accommodate that volume of cards. When designing the cards themselves, I wanted to design them in a way that the tagline could be read while another player covered up the answer and clues with one hand.
The rules of the game are simple: Players take turns drawing a card and reading the tagline to the other players/player. Whoever answers correctly receives the card and is awarded 5 points. If the players are struggling, they may agree to use a clue of their choice: Genre, Year, or Lead. Each clue subtracts one point, except for Lead which subtracts 2 points. So, if a player only needs the year to correctly guess, they are awarded 4 points, however if they use all their clues, they may only be awarded 1 point. The first player to reach 25 points (or any amount the players agree to) wins!
This game is fully in the concept stage right now and has not yet been produced. I plan to continue developing it and hope to produce it one day in the future.
